I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I wish you a very Happy New Year. For those of you who were unable to attend our 2021 annual members’ meeting, the 2021 Board of Officers were unanimously re-elected for another term. All Board members thank you for your support and are already working to further enhance the Society.
It was unanimously voted by the Board to increase the annual dues for membership to $10.00 per person and $20.00 per family, per calendar year. This is the first increase since the creation of the Society. Membership benefits include free admission to the Museum, access to the members’ section of the website, the annual members’ and family only luncheon and meeting, special members’ only presentations, free private museum tours and a summer members’ picnic. Admission to our monthly presentations will remain free, as always, to both members and non-members. If you wish to remain a member, please copy and complete the 2022 membership application on the website(https://dingmansferryhistoricalsociety.org) and forward to the address below with your dues asap.
It is extremely important that members take a greater role in the Society by volunteering to serve on our committees. These committees are the foundation for the Society’s functioning and operation. Below is a list of committees with descriptions; hopefully, there is one that you are interested in lending your service.
Hospitality Committee Prepare refreshments for meeting and events
Library Committee Maintain and preserve the books, manuscripts and other printed matter
Membership Committee Maintaining membership records
Museum Committee Plan/set-up Museum displays, tours and guides for open days
Photography Committee Catalog, maintain and preserve historic photos and take
photos at Society events
Publicity Committee Oversee and arrange for printing, publications and advertising
Program Committee Planning for all programs, tours and events
Ways & Means Committee Raise revenue for the Society

We are currently planning our presentation and museum schedules for this year. We will again be having presentations once a month. Presentations will be on Thursday evenings or on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon this year. The presentation schedule will be emailed to members and posted on the website (https://dingmasferryhistoricalsociety.org) as soon as all presentations are confirmed. The Museum will be opened twice a month this year on either Saturday or Sunday. Again, the schedule will be emailed to members and posted on the website when completed.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE OCTOBER 2021
It has been an exciting year! With the museum now reopened until November 28th, your board has been extremely busy. Work on the building and the displays will be ongoing with much to do over the winter. Anyone wishing to assist in this project is more than welcome.
The Grand Re-opening in September was a major success with approximately seventy-five people making the museum tour that day. Our two open dates in October resulted in more visitors in one day than we have had in total on some past seasons. The museum will be open twice in November -- the 13th and 27th, from 10am until 2pm. It may be open during the Townships Christmas Celebration as well. Keep checking our website for additional information.
Our October presentation was extremely well-received. The event, ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’, was presented by professional story teller, Jonathan Kruk. The show was enjoyed by all. We are currently discussing future programs with Jonathan.
Our Annual ‘Members Only’ Meeting is scheduled for Saturday December 4th beginning at 1:30 pm. The business portion of the meeting will be the election of Officers for the 2022-2023 term. This will be followed by a catered luncheon hosted by the Society. We are asking that you RSVP no later than November 8th as we will need a head count for the caterer. Responses should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. This is an extremely important event as a quorum is required to hold the election. All members are urged to attend. Immediate family non-members are invited to the luncheon as well. We have rescheduled this event to Saturday afternoon rather than on Thursday night in the hopes that this scheduling is more convenient for our members. We will be polling those members in attendance as to their preference in scheduling our presentations, meeting dates and times for 2022.

The Dingmans Ferry, Delaware Township Historical Society held its Museum Grand Reopening ceremony on Saturday September 25th. at it building in Akenac Park, in Delaware Township. The event was very well attended by dignitaries, members, residents’ and guests. Those in attendance included State Representative, Rosemary Brown who presented the Society with a plaque in recognition of the Societies dedication to preserving the history of the region. Also present were the Delaware Township Supervisors, John Henderson, Jane Neufeld and Rick Koehler who congratulated the Society on their accomplishments and service to the community. William Kiger, representing the Friends of Marie Zimmerman, JoAnn Parsell, founder and Past President, and Mim Carpenter, former Historian and Genealogist were also present.
Society President Tim Singleton, Vice President Dennis Lee, Treasure Ted Parsell, Recording Security Patrice Singleton and Corresponding Secretary Sue Keppel, were present and expressed their appreciation to all those who assisted in the efforts to bring the project to its completion thus far and assured that the Museum growth would be ongoing as would be the Historical Society and all its services to the community.
